CHRISTIAN COUNTY, Ky. (9/25/13) – Christian County Public Schools is proud to announce the District Teacher and Staff Member of the Year winners, named Monday evening at the 2013-2014 Teacher and Staff Member Recognition Ceremony.

Ms. Emily Russell, a fifth grade social studies teacher at Pembroke Elementary School, was named as this year’s Teacher of the Year and Ms. Stephanie Acree, an instructional assistant at Belmont Elementary School, was named as this year’s Staff Member of the Year. The two winners were honored with $100 in Chamber gift certificates.
 
The Teacher and Staff Recognition Ceremony at the James E. Bruce Convention Center was filled with lots of excitement. The event consisted of multiple speakers, including:
 
• Jerry Gilliam - Chair, Workforce Education Partnership Committee

• Carter Hendricks- President, Christian County Chamber of Commerce

• Mary Ann Gemmill - Superintendent, Christian County Public Schools

• Taylor Hayes, CEO and Publisher, Kentucky New Era

Superintendent Mary Ann Gemmill says, “We are always excited for the opportunity to celebrate and recognize outstanding staff members. These staff members are tremendous assets to our schools and do a wonderful job serving as shining examples of how relationships and rigor can produce extraordinary outcomes for students. I want to extend a big thank you to the Chamber of Commerce and sponsors of the event for a wonderful evening. We appreciate having the support from the community, as it shows we have a community that cares!”

The event was sponsored by the Christian County Chamber of Commerce, Fort Campbell Federal Credit Union, Murray State University- Hopkinsville, Kentucky New Era, Higgins Insurance and Christian County Public Schools.
