Training Event Hosted by Task Force

Pennyrile drug task forceHOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (6/1914) — The Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force sponsored a Heroin Summit at the Pennyrile Area Development District in Hopkinsville, Ky. for law enforcement, June 18, 2014.

The event was co-sponsored by the Christian County Sheriff's Department and the Hopkinsville Police Department. William "Bill" Mark, Director of the Northern Kentucky Drug Strike Force, along with Michael Kappes of the NKDSF and Greg Salmons of the Covington Fire Department were the guest speakers.

Northern Kentucky has been plagued by the heroin epidemic.

As prescription drugs become more difficult to obtain, many addicts are turning to heroin as an alternative. The training proved to be very beneficial to law enforcement.

There were approximately 50 persons in attendance from various counties within the Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force coverage area.
