DAVIESS COUNTY, Ky. (7/29/13) – A 19-year-old Owensboro woman and two passengers were arrested on Friday at 1:25 a.m. after the car she was driving apparently ran off the road and struck an earth embankment.
According to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, Kelsey Pierce was driving on Todd Bridge Rd. when she allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign. After the accident, authorities said Pierce and her passengers, Jason Wilkinson, 27, Rockport, Ind., and Dylan Somers, 18, Rockport, Ind., got out of the car, removed the license plate, and walked away from the scene. They were located about a mile away from the car on Burns Rd., authorities said. The three allegedly admitted to “huffing” from a spray can used to clean computers.
The license plate was recovered in a cornfield on Todd Bridge Rd.
Pierce was taken to the Daviess County Detention Center on charges of leaving the scene of an accident/wanton endangerment, tampering with evidence, operating a motor vehicle while her license is suspended, and driving without insurance. Wilkinson was charged with third degree possession of a controlled substance, public intoxication, and tampering with evidence. Somers faces the same charges as Wilkinson, as well as consumption of alcohol by a minor under the age of 21.
