(2/21/14) – An Owensboro man in custody at the Daviess County Detention Center was found dead in an apparent suicide, Daviess County Sheriff’s Office said today.

Major J.D. Marksberry told SurfKY that Chance Morrow, 22, was found dead in his cell sometime after 7 p.m. Thursday night.

The sheriff's office received a call to investigate at 7:23 p.m., Marksberry said.

Morrow was facing charges of first degree assault following an alleged shooting on Wednesday, SurfKY reported Feb 19.

Marksberry said the DCSO would conduct the investigation of the incident, including a review of autopsy and toxicology results, staff and inmate interviews, and evidence collection.

He said the process is expected to take several days.
