ODC 14-Year-Olds Win West State, Move on to Super Regionals

OWENSBORO, Ky. (7/21/14) — The Owensboro-Daviess County 14-year-old All-Stars downed Logan County 6-2 in the championship game of the Brandenburg-hosted West State Tournament Sunday.

With the win, Owensboro-Daviess County advances to the Super Regionals, which will begin Thursday in Henderson.

On the mound in the championship game. Owensboro-Daviess County pitcher Sam Hein earned the win. Hein worked five innings for the Owensboro-Daviess County baseball team.

Offensively for Owensboro-Daviess County, Blaine Gillim went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Owensboro-Daviess County defeated West Louisville 7-4 in the semifinals. More on the Owensboro-Daviess County-West Louisville baseball game follows.

The Owensboro-Daviess County 14-year-old All-Stars would not be denied in a semifinal game against West Louisville. Owensboro-Daviess County held off West Louisville 7-4 in the semifinals of the West State Tournament.

The ODC squad benefited from strong hitting and solid pitching.

At the plate for Owensboro-Daviess County, Griffin Haire led the way with two hits.

Owensboro-Daviess County pitcher Cameron Nichols, working out of a relief role, earned the win.
