traffic alert yellow 300MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (8/23/13) – CSX Railroad and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plan to close a section of U.S. 431 in MUHLENBERG County starting at approximately 8:30 a.m., CDT, on Wednesday, August 28, 2013.

Plans call for U.S. 431 to be closed at mile point 15.674 in the Cleaton Community between Drakesboro and Central City for a rail crossing upgrade and rail line maintenance.

U.S. 431 is expected to close about 8:30 a.m., Wednesday after the morning school bus run. Weather permitting, U.S. 431 should reopen to traffic at this site by approximately 4:00 p.m. on the afternoon of Thursday, August 29th.

A marked detour will be provided for passenger vehicle traffic and standard commercial truck traffic along KY 2107. This creates about a 4-mile detour.

Message boards are being set up at the closure site to alert motorists to the U.S. 431 closure and detour. About 7,000 vehicles travel this section of U.S. 431 in an average day.

Timely traffic advisories on road closures and lane restrictions are available by going to www.facebook.com/kytcdistrict2. You do not have to be a Facebook member to access this page.
