According to Madisonville Police Department (MPD) officers, a red Chevy S-10 pickup truck, operated by 41-year-old Christopher Simms of Madisonville, left Pennyrile Park Apartments and struck a utility pole located on South Kentucky Avenue. Simms left the scene of the accident and continued north on Kentucky, turning left onto Arch Street. At that point, Simms disregarded the traffic signal at the intersection and was struck by a white Toyota Camry, operated by Darla Workman, 53, of Dawson Springs. Workman’s vehicle was then forced to strike a red Buick Encore, operated by 61-year-old Donna Edwards of Madisonville.

At this point, Simms left the scene once again and continued westbound on Arch Street, striking another utility pole, this one located in front of 250 West Arch Street. Simm’s S-10 struck an embankment and came to a final stop near the intersection of West Arch and Madison Avenue.

All injured parties were transported to Baptist Health Emergency Room before being treated for injuries and released.

Simms was charged with Driving Under the Influence – 1st Degree, Leaving the Scene of an Accident and Failure to Render Aid X3. Simms was also charged with Disregarding a Traffic Control Device – Traffic Light.

The Madisonville Police Department was assisted on the scene by multiple units from the Madisonville Fire Department, Madisonville Light Department and Med Center Ambulance.
