Madisonville Police Department Preps for Cram the Car

cramthecarfinalMADISONVILLE, Ky. (7/31/13) – It’s that time of year again, as local families prepare for the new school season. On that note, the Madisonville Police Department (MPD) is stepping up in preparation for the school year with the same efforts put forth for the last two years to make sure that local children have everything they need for success.

MPD is, once again, holding the annual Cram the Car event, wherein officers set up at the entrance to K-Mart and Walmart to accept donated items for local students who cannot afford their school supplies from local citizens with big hearts.

Started in 2011, this has been a very successful event each year. Last year alone, the Cram the Car event brought forth approximately $6900.00 worth of school supplies, all donated by local shoppers.

This year, MPD D Squad will be at Walmart and K-Mart from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 3rd. All supplies donated will be given to the Pennyrile Allied Community Services (PACS) and distributed to local less-fortunate students.

SurfKY News urges local citizens to take part in this worthy cause.
