TRAFFIC ALERT – Work Continues at KY 109 Dawson Springs Interchange

lane restriction 300DAWSON SPRINGS, Ky. (10/2/13) – As a reminder, a contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has closed the I-69 southbound exit and entry ramps at the Dawson Springs KY 109 Exit 92 Interchange.

This closure of southbound ramps is to allow construction of ramp connections for the new I-69/KY 109 Interchange configuration. The contractor has been making excellent progress on efforts to remove the old ramps and connect the new ramps that will create a diamond interchange at the site.

The work started Monday morning. The southbound ramps are expected to remain closed for approximately 7 days for this work. During the southbound ramp closure traffic from the Dawson Springs area will have to detour west on US 62 to Princeton to access I-69 Southbound. Southbound traffic traveling to Dawson Springs will be required to travel US 62 west from Nortonville. Message boards are up at appropriate locations to provide directions.

This closure is part of a reconstruction of the I-69 Dawson Springs Interchange to bring it up to current Interstate standards. Once connections are complete on the new southbound ramps and they've been opened to traffic, the contractor will schedule similar work on the northbound ramps. Again, the southbound ramp closure at Dawson Springs is expected to last about a week.
