MADISONVILLE, Ky. (10/2/13) – Powered by State Farm , “Celebrate My Drive” encourages teens to make more positive choices while they are driving. As parents, we can honestly say one of the most terrifying moments is when there is a new driver in the home. So join in on the greatest teen driving safety celebration.
In 2009, more than 12 teens were killed each day in motor vehicle accidents. Crashes are the number 1 killer of teens and their first year of driving is the most dangerous.
From October 18-26, celebrates National Teen Driver Safety Week and high schools and students 14+ can unite their community by generating support for their school by making safe driving commitments.
$3.25 million grants will be awarded to 100 winning high schools. Two schools will get a Grand Prize Concert by Grammy Award-winner Kelly Clarkson and a $100,000 grant, eight schools will get $100,000 and ninety schools will receive $25,000.
“During the week of the 18th – 26th, the school with the most votes wins the grand prize of $100,000 and a concert by Kelly Clarkson,” said John Zieba, State Farm Agent. “They have to use 10% of the money for teen driving or driver’s ed. Other than that the schools can use the money wherever they see fit.”
