Plans to Widen U.S. 41A/Nebo Road on Track

ky trans cab 300MADISONVILLE, Ky. (10/2/13) – Kentucky Transportation Cabinet officials are "on track" for widening U.S. 41A/Nebo Road between Industrial Drive and North Main Street in Madisonville.

Keith Todd, public information officer for KYTC districts 1 and 2, said the next year will be the property acquisition phase.

"We're preparing to hire a consulting firm to start purchasing right-of-way acquisitions, which take about a year to complete," Todd told SurfKY Wednesday. "After that, it takes about a year of utility work."

Todd said the project is moving along for construction beginning in 2015.

A public meeting was held in February, where officials explained the project will fall into two main phases — to widen and relocate U.S. 41A with the existing from two lanes to three from Industrial Road to Kentucky 1178 just past Lake Pee Wee Road; and, from Kentucky 1178 to U.S. 41 (North Main Street) being widened to five lanes.
