MADISONVILLE, Ky. (11/12/13) – A Madisonville man was charged for identity theft after a Madisonville Police officer made a traffic stop.
According to the Madisonville Police Department, officer Jared Ward stopped a vehicle Saturday, Nov. 9 because a passenger in the vehicle was not wearing a seatbelt. After Ward asked the driver for identification, the driver could not produce it. Ward then asked for the driver's Social Security number.
After running the number through the Hopkins County Central Dispatch system, the identity came back to be that of a 62-year-old man. Ward believed the driver was not that old.
Richard Moore, III, 31, of Madisonville was charged with failure to appear and theft of identity of another without consent.
He is being lodged in the Hopkins County Jail.
