MADISONVILLE, Ky. (12/11/13) — Madisonville North Hopkins High School has won a $25,000 grant in State Farm's "Celebrate My Drive" contest.
State Farm agent John Zieba presented a display check to students during a pep rally on Thursday, Dec. 5. The online contest asked participants to make a commitment to safe driving.
MNHHS ranked 30th out of 2,800 schools in the large school category when voting ended in October.
Principal Tim Huddleston asked a committee of MNHHS students to decide how the money would be spent. About 20 percent will be used to purchase a driving simulator program for the school's driver education program. Funds will go to athletics, the Youth Services Center, band/chorus, the different academic departments. Each class will also get $1,000.
