MADISONVILLE, Ky. (1/28/14) — Madisonville Police were dispatched Monday, Jan. 27 to a Bernard Drive Residence after a report of a 2-year-old child wandering around the neighborhood.
According to the Madisonville Police report, Officer Brandon Darnell arrived at the residence to check on the welfare of the toddler. Neighbors called the police, when they noticed her walking next to the street with no supervision.
Upon arrival, Darnell was greeted by the neighbor and the child’s mother. The mother advised police that she left her child in the care of David Austin Parker, 19, while she attended school, the report said.
When Parker arrived at the residence, he told police that when the mother left, the child was still asleep, so he went back to bed. He also said that when he woke up and didn’t see the child, so he thought someone had come and picked her up. He told police he had left to go to the food stamp office.
Parker was charged with endangering the welfare of a minor.He is currently being lodged in the Hopkins County Jail.
