richard-mMADISONVILLE, Ky. (7/1/14) — The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Department responded to a fight complaint at Las Vegas mobile home park outside Madisonville Monday, June 30.

According to the Hopkins County Sheriff’s report, during the fight, Richard James Mortellaro, 40, Madisonville struck a male victim with a baseball bat in the head and then punched him in the head, knocking the victim out.

The victim then fell and hit his head on the pavement. The victim was transported by ambulance to Baptist Health, where he was then transferred to St. Mary’s Hospital via helicopter, the report said.

Mortellaro was charged with assault in the first degree and is being lodged in the Hopkins County Jail.
