According to the Madisonville Police report, when officers met with the victim, she advised them that Bradtrel Copeland, 24, Madisonville pushed and hit her in the face with his hands. Officers observed the victim had swelling to her nose along with a laceration and a busted lip.
The victim also advised officers that Copeland had held her captive for two weeks and wouldn’t let her go home. She also told police, that Copeland had also taken her keys and threatened to kill her if she left the residence or called the cops, the report said.
The report said that when officers arrived at the scene, Copeland had left. Officers were able to locate Copeland and conducted a traffic stop. At initial contact with Copeland, officers reported they could smell a strong odor of alcohol emitting from him. When Copeland was given a sobriety test, he was unable to follow directions, the report said.
Copeland was charged with assault in the fourth-degree, domestic violence, with minor injuries, unlawful imprisonment, second-degree, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, failure of non-owner operator to maintain required insurance, no registration plates and failure of license to be in possession.He is currently being lodged in the Hopkins County Jail.
