Timothy-Owen-BrittMADISONVILLE, Ky. (8/18/14) — Madisonville Police were dispatched to a shoplifting complaint at Walmart Sunday, Aug. 17.

According to a Madisonville Police report, a Walmart loss prevention officer reported that Timothy Owen Britt, 50, Madisonville, removed numerous amounts of DVD movies from the shelf, then walked to the craft section.

The report said Britt was then observed concealing the DVDs in his pants and walking into the men’s restroom, passing point of purchase. During this time, officers arrived to the scene and observed Britt walk out the restroom.

As officers approached Britt, he tried to dispose of the DVDs. Officers were also advised that Britt had previously been served a “no trespassing” notice for shoplifting, the report said.

Britt was charged with theft by unlawful taking or display/shoplifting under $500 and third-degree criminal trespassing.

He is being lodged in the Hopkins County Jail.
