accident injuries amb 300

MARION, KY (6/3/13) - The Kentucky State Police (KSP) investigated a three-vehicle, injury collision that occurred on US 641, approximately seven miles south of Marion, on Friday, May 31, 2013, at 1:20 p.m.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Sonia A. Guess, 71 of Marion, KY, was operating a 2002 Ford Explorer southbound on US 641. June P. Tucker, 72 of Fredonia, KY, was operating a 2000 Dodge Caravan northbound on US 641. According to KSP officials, as the two vehicles approached one another, it appears that Ms. Guess attempted to make a left turn in front of Ms. Tucker.

The two vehicles collided. The impact knocked Ms. Guess' vehicle into an unoccupied vehicle, a 2012 GMC Acadia, which was parked. Ms. Guess' vehicle came to rest in a parking lot on the east side of the road. Ms. Tucker's vehicle came to rest in the northbound lane of US 641. The unoccupied vehicle remained in the approximate location it was parked prior to the collision.

Both drivers, who were wearing seatbelts, were transported via ambulance to the Crittenden County Hospital for treatment. There were no passengers in either vehicle.

Trooper Bob Winters investigated the collision. Crittenden County Fire & Rescue, Crittenden County EMS, and the KY Transportation Cabinet assisted at the scene.
