wreck2 300CADIZ, Ky. (6/3/13) – Cadiz Police investigated a crash today, Monday, June 3, 2013, at 11:18 am that occurred in the parking lot of 308 Main Street.

Mary C. Staples, 57, of Linton Lane, Cadiz, veered off the left side of the road, struck a parked pickup truck and then struck a telephone pole.  Staples told police she had been recently suffering from seizures and may have blacked out while driving.

Staples was taken to Trigg County Hospital for treatment of a facial injury.  A witness behind Staples said the vehicle never slowed and struck the pole without braking.  Staples' estimated speed was a minimum of 30 to 35 miles per hour at impact.

Staples was wearing a seat belt that, coupled with the airbag, likely prevented more serious injury.
The pickup truck was owned by David White, 63 Brown Street in Cadiz and was unoccupied.
Sgt. Scott Brown is the investigating officer.
