Cadiz Police Reports – June 10, 2013

cadiz police arrest1 300CADIZ, Ky. (6/10/13) – The following is your update on Law Enforcement activity courtesy of the Cadiz Police Department.

Ronald Bruce, 33, of 278 Main Street in Cadiz, was arrested on June 8, 2013, at 10:36 PM, by Officer Andrew Sanderson and charged with Public Intoxication and Criminal Mischief - 3rd Degree.  Cadiz Police officials responded to a call of a disturbance at the Main Street Villas, located at 278 Main Street. Officers found a busted window to the suspect's apartment 100 yards away from the scene. While at the scene, police were alerted by the Trigg County Hospital ER that Bruce had come to the emergency room asking to be treated for a laceration on his arm.  Bruce appeared to be under the influence of an unknown drug and was unsteady on his feet.  A witness at the scene said Bruce was locked out of his own apartment and tried to gain entry.

Jayme L. Hart, 36, of 314 Wayne Drive, Hopkinsville, was arrested on June 9 at 6:17 PM by Officer Roger Knight and charged with Burglary - Second Degree.  Police received a report from the homeowner of 26 Cardinal Drive of a person inside the residence without permission.  Officer Knight's investigation determined that Hart and the homeowner, Amy McKnight, knew one another but that Hart was not to be at the residence while McKnight was out of town.  Hart had consumed food while inside the house and had appeared to rummage through some rooms.  She was arrested without incident.

Nicolas J. Merritt, 21, of 93 Wallace Avenue, Cadiz, was arrested on June 9 at 9:53 PM by Sgt. Scott Brown and Officer Roger Knight and charged with Criminal Trespass - Third Degree; Disorderly Conduct; Fleeing/Evading Police - Second Degree; Resisting Arrest; and Alcohol Intoxication. Police responded to a call of a subject knocking on the doors and windows at 54 Mary White Boulevard in the Cadiz Housing Authority. The residence is occupied by a person who Merritt has a child in common with, however he is not allowed to be at the apartment due to an ongoing investigation by the Department of Child Based Services.  Officer Knight made contact with Merritt, who then scaled a fence and ran toward Barkley Manor Apartments.  Sgt. Scott Brown located Merritt behind a building at Barkley Manor and advised him he was under arrest. When Merritt refused several times to comply with Sgt. Brown's commands to show his hands and come down from a stairwell, Sgt. Brown deployed his taser.  Merritt then quickly complied with the officers' commands and was taken into custody.  Merritt was not injured and lodged in the Christian County Jail.
