KSP Investigates Single Vehicle Injury Accident in Cadiz

Accident Injury 01 gold 300CADIZ, Ky. (6/19/13) – The Trigg County Sheriff’s office requested assistance working an accident with multiple injuries. Preliminary investigation revealed that Jamiston Stewart, age 22, of Cadiz, KY, was operating a 2007 Chevrolet Impala eastbound on Rocky Ridge Road, near Swatzell Road, at about 7:20 pm on 6/17/13, when he entered into a curve at a high rate of speed. Unable to control the vehicle, Mr. Stewart exited the right side of the roadway striking a ditch and becoming airborne. The vehicle then continued to roll three times and rotate 180 degrees before coming to a final rest partially in the roadway.

Upon Trooper Robichaud’s arrival, it was believed that there had been three people in the vehicle. A male passenger had fled the scene of the accident and has not been located. A female passenger, 25-year-old Allison Hunter of Cadiz, was later discovered unconscious in a field near the scene of the accident and was determined to be a fourth person in the vehicle. She was transported to Jennie Stuart Medical Center, and was later airlifted to Vanderbilt Medical Center. Mr. Jamiston Stewart was transported to Trigg County Hospital where he was treated, released, and taken into custody by Trooper Robichaud. Passenger Carloss Bush, age 22, of Cadiz, KY, was admitted to Trigg County Hospital from injuries sustained in the accident. It is believed that all occupants were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.

Jamiston Stewart was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence aggravated 2nd offense, leaving the scene of accident - failure to render aid or assistance, and disorderly conduct 2nd degree. Mr. Carloss Bush was cited into court for leaving the scene of accident – failure to render aid or assistance, and alcohol intoxication.

At approximately 3:00 pm today, 6/18/13, Christopher Herndon met Trooper Robichard at the Cadiz Police Department to discuss the accident. Robichaud had obtained warrants for the subject earlier in the day and charged him with Leaving the Scene of an Accident-Failure to Render Aid.

Trooper Michael Robichaud is continuing the investigation. Trooper Robichaud was assisted on scene by Trooper JD Martin, Trigg County Sheriff’s Department, Cadiz Police Department, Trigg County EMS, Trigg County Fire & Rescue, and Trigg County Emergency Management.
