drug arrest marijuana 01 300PADUCAH, Ky. (6/24/13) – At approximately 11:00 AM on June 23, 2013, McCracken County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to 6450 Old Mayfield Road regarding a drug complaint.

The complaint alleged that a juvenile had found marijuana in her father’s residence. The responding deputies located Christopher Carney, 52 years old, and his two juvenile children at the residence. After a brief investigation, Deputies contacted Detectives with the McCracken County Sheriff’s Department Drug Division.

At approximately 12:45 P.M., Detectives executed a search warrant at the residence. During the search, Detectives located over one ounce of marijuana as well as marijuana paraphernalia. The marijuana and the paraphernalia were located in areas that were easily accessible to the children, who were both under the age of 12.

During the investigation, an employee of Social Services also responded to the location to speak the children. The employee learned that one of the children was a graduate of the McCracken County D.A.R.E program and that the juvenile stated that he/she was able to identify the illegal drugs because of that program.

Carney was arrested and charged with two counts of Wanton Endangerment 2nd Degree, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Carney was lodged in the McCracken County Regional Jail.

A family member responded and took custody of the children.
