More Human Remains Found in Madisonville

investigation 300MADISONVILLE, Ky. (7/25/13) – Authorities were summoned today to Continental Drive in Madisonville after Hopkins County Road Department workers discovered more human remains, where bones were found earlier this month.

According to Hopkins County Deputy Coroner Dennis Mayfield, the bones found today are obviously human.

"There is no way to tell right now how long they've been there," said Mayfield. "But we're pretty sure these are human, too."

Mayfield said there is no visible way to determine if the remains are all part of the same body. Road crews were working today in the area to straighten up and continue work in the area on a drain (or culvert).

The remains have been taken to the Kentucky Medical Examiner's Office in Madisonville, Mayfield said. Further testing will be performed by a forensic anthropologist to gather more information and updates may be forthcoming tomorrow.

Detective Scott Troutman with the Hopkins County Sheriff's Office is in charge of the investigation.
