PADUCAH, Ky. (8/14/13) – On Wednesday, August 14, 2013, the McCracken County Sheriff’s Department was called to an injury accident on Clarks River Road and Virginia Street.
The following investigation showed that Theodore P. Galvin, 52 of Paducah, was traveling westbound in a 2011 Ford Taurus on Clarks River Road and was entering the construction zone. Mr. Galvin failed to see a 2011 Toyota 4 Runner, operated by Cheryl L. Howerton, 57 of Gilbertsville, slowing behind stopped traffic, and struck the Howerton vehicle in the right rear corner. The impact from the collision caused the Howerton vehicle to strike the rear of a 2005 Ford Explorer operated by Michael E. Stewart, 61 of Benton, that was stopped in traffic. The impact from the Stewart vehicle caused it to strike the rear of a 2012 Cadillac SRX operated by Rita H. Ray, 53 of Smithland.
Mr. Galvin was transported to a local hospital with nonlife threatening injuries by Mercy Regional Ambulance. From evidence at the scene and type of injury it appeared that Mr. Galvin was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the collision.
Assisting at the scene was Paducah Police Department and Reidland-Farley Fire Department. Vehicles were towed by Randy’s Towing.
