Lawn Mower Accident Claims the Life of Paducah Woman

breakingnews FATALACCIDENT 300PADUCAH, Ky. (9/23/13) – On Saturday, September 21, at approximately 4:42 PM, the McCracken County Sheriff’s Department responded to a lawn mower roll over incident in the 1300 block of Lebanon Church Road.

The investigation showed that 63 year old Connie J. Mayfield was operating a zero turn John Deere riding mower, mowing a field behind her residence. Mrs. Mayfield was attempting to mow a steep embankment, to a pond levee, that caused the mower to flip on top of her. Mrs. Mayfield was trapped under the mower and later located by neighbors that went to check on her.

Mayfield was later pronounced dead at the scene by the McCracken County Coroner’s Office. It is estimated that the incident occurred approximately 1 to 2 hours prior to the neighbor locating her.

The Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by Hendron Fire Department and Mercy Ambulance Service.
