pink ribbon 2 300PADUCAH, Ky. (10/4/13) – Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death among women. Being aware of breast cancer is important, but getting checked with an annual mammogram can save your life. Lourdes’ women’s health imaging centers use only the highest-quality digital mammography, breast ultrasound and breast MRI’s to get fast, accurate results.
 
Lourdes and Mercy Health physicians, nurse navigators, staff and volunteers will educate the public on the importance of getting a mammogram during a series of special events in October, including:

“Get Checked” at Lourdes and Receive a Free Gift
October 1 – October 31

During the month of October, anyone who schedules and receives a mammogram at Lourdes Women’s Center or Paducah Diagnostic Center will be given a 24 ounce insulated tumbler, a gift for a free Clinique makeover at Dillard’s, and a Clinique surprise.
 
To schedule a mammogram at the Lourdes Women’s Center, located in the Marshall Nemer Pavilion, call 270-444-2121. Hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with extended hours available until 6:30 p.m. To schedule a mammogram at The Paducah Diagnostic Center, located in Lourdes Medical Pavilion, call 270-441-4100. The Paducah Diagnostic Center will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
 
Marshall Nemer Pavilion Goes Pink
October 1 – October 31

From October 1 – 31, the lights outside of the Marshall Nemer Pavilion will be illuminated with pink hues to raise awareness for breast cancer.

Saturdays at Dillard’s

Lourdes Women’s Center’s Nurse Navigators, Courtney Leneave and Amy Manley will be present at Dillard’s, located in Kentucky Oaks Mall on October 5, 12, 19 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. by the Clinique makeup counter. Women will have the opportunity to schedule a mammogram during the month of October with Lourdes, as well as educate themselves on Lourdes Women’s Services.
 
Saturday, October 5

Lourdes Women’s Services will be at the Paducah Symphony Orchestra to provide information and answer any questions about mammograms. In addition, the Nurse Navigators will be on hand to schedule mammograms for the month of October.
 
Dillard’s Bra Fitting Event
Friday, October 11

Lourdes Women’s Center’s Nurse Navigators, Courtney Leneave and Amy Manley will be at Dillard’s in Kentucky Oaks Mall from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for Dillard’s annual bra fitting event. Women will have the opportunity to schedule a mammogram during the month of October with Lourdes, as well as educate themselves on Lourdes Women’s Services.
 
National Mammography Day
Friday, October 18

In recognition of National Mammography Day, Lourdes associates will wear pink to help raise awareness about breast cancer.
 
American Cancer Society Honors Lourdes with Award
Wednesday, October 23

The American Cancer Society will honor Lourdes Relay for Life team for their dedication and fundraising success over the past year with a special luncheon in their honor. Lourdes Relay for Life team holds the #4 spot in the world, the #2 fundraising team in the Mid-South Division for two years in a row and the #1 fundraising team in the state of Kentucky four consecutive years.
 
Breast Cancer Survivor Tea
Thursday, October 24

Lourdes is hosting the annual Breast Cancer Survivor Tea from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Marshall Nemer Pavilion's Borders Community Room. General Surgeon, Dr. Daniel Howard and Breast Cancer Survivor, Dr. Lisa Chaney Lasher will speak on the latest advancements in breast cancer treatments and various resources available to women. After the luncheon, survivors and their family members will have a pink balloon lift off. Lunch will be provided by Texas Roadhouse. To register, call 270-415-3915.
 
American Cancer Society Ladies’ Social
Saturday, October 26

Lourdes will once again sponsor the American Cancer Society Ladies’ Social. The event is a local fundraiser to support the American Cancer Society. The venue will be held at the Purple Toad Winery and includes dinner, entertainment, silent auction and features a presentation of the “Spirit of Hope” award to a local caregiver. Luminarias of Hope are also lit during the event in honor and in memory of those who have battled cancer.
 
Grand Rivers Breast Cancer Survivor Tea
Tuesday, October 29

Lourdes will be the guest of honor at the Grand Rivers Breast Cancer Survivor Tea at the Yacht Club in Grand Rivers, Kentucky. Mercy Primary Care’s Dr. Marissa Stewart-Jaynes will be on-hand to discuss the importance of getting annual mammograms and other women’s health topics.
