PADUCAH, Ky. (10/8/13) – On October 5, 2013, at 4:33 a.m., Stephanie Hill called 911 to report a fire at the home of Joanie Childers, 3712 Clarks River Road lot #136, where she (Hill) was staying temporarily.
Hill reported she awoke to use the bathroom and smelled smoke inside the home. As Hill opened the back door, she observed flames on the ground near the back bedroom; she then exited the home through the front door and dialed 911 for help. Hill was the only occupant of the home at the time of the fire and was not injured. Childers was out of town at the time of the fire.
Detectives from the McCracken County Sheriff’s Department and Bill Compton, Kentucky State Fire Marshal’s Office, conducted an investigation and determined the fire was set intentionally. Detectives are continuing the investigation and searching for a person of interest.
If anyone has information regarding this crime, please contact the McCracken County Sheriff's Department at 444-4719, or contact Crimestoppers at 443-TELL. Anyone with information leading to an arrest and/or conviction may be eligible for a reward up to $1000.
In addition, anyone with information regarding this crime may contact the TARGET ARSON HOTLINE (1-800-27ARSON) which is specifically related to the crime of arson, including conspiracy and attempt leading to an arrest or indictment for the crime of arson. In order to qualify to receive this reward, the informant must furnish information through the TARGET ARSON hotline and claim the reward within six (6) months of the arrest or indictment.
