PADUCAH, Ky. (10/9/13) – On October 8, 2013 at approximately 9:30 p.m., Deputies with the McCracken County Sheriff’s Dept. responded to the 6500 Block of New Hope Church Road for an accident involving a motorcycle.
Upon arrival, it was determined that Kaleb W. Thompson, 18 years old, of Paducah, was operating his 2000 Harley Davidson Motorcycle West bound on New Hope Road. As Thompson approached the 6500 block of New Hope Church Road, he started to negotiate a curve. As Thompson entered the curve, for unknown reasons, he failed to negotiate the curve, laid the motorcycle onto its side, and began to slide. Thompson slid for a distance until he collided with a utility pole that was a few feet off the roadway.
Thompson was pronounced dead at the scene by Emergency Medical Personnel. Thompson’s preliminary cause of death, investigated by the McCracken County Coroner’s Office, was determined to be blunt force trauma to the body caused by striking the utility pole.
Thompson was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by the McCracken County Coroner’s Office, the Lone Oak Fire Department, and Mercy Regional Ambulance Service.
The roadway was shut down for approximately one and one half hours while investigators investigated the collision.
Deputy Cory Golightly was the primary investigator of the accident.
