Chuck-SmithCharles B. Smith Jr.PADUCAH, Ky. (8/15/14) — Baptist Health Paducah recently named Charles B. Smith Jr., MBA RN CNOR, director of surgical services.

Smith’s nursing experience includes 22 years at The Cleveland Clinic, from OR technician to administration. He has spent the last 10 years in surgery management at ambulatory centers and hospitals in Florida and West Virginia.

Smith holds the healthcare executive master’s degree and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio, as well as associate degrees in nursing and operating room technology.

As director, he supervises 168 employees in surgery, pre-op and recovery areas, endoscopy and sterile processing.

The recently expanded and renovated surgery department at Baptist Health Paducah includes 15 operating rooms for general and specialty procedures, including hybrid, da Vinci and two open-heart suites.

The region’s first open-heart and Da Vinci surgeries were performed at Baptist; and it recently was designated a Center of Excellence for Minimally Invasive Gynecology.
