WEBSTER COUNTY, Ky. (7/17/13) - A Webster County man has been charged with arson following a house fire on Starl Shelton Road near Sebree last week.
On Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at approximately 10:21 p.m., KSP Post 2 Madisonville received a call from Webster County in reference to a house fire located at 328 Starl Shelton Road in Sebree. (There were no injuries reported.)
Through the course of the investigation, KSP Arson Investigator Rick Godsey was able to obtain an arrest warrant for Branson.
On Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at approximately 1:50 a.m., Investigator Godsey charged Tommy R. Branson, 60 of Sebree, KY, with one count of Arson 2nd Degree, a Class B Felony.
Branson was lodged in the Webster County Detention Center.
Trooper Nathan Craft, Trooper Jonathan Murphy, and the Webster County Sheriff’s Department assisted with the investigation.
An eyewitness reports that at the time of the fire, the homeowner was visiting friends in Florida, but that a woman was present in the home.
“The owner has been very sick,” said the eyewitness. “He doesn’t need something like this. He is very distraught, because all of his worldly possessions were in his house.”
