Mona Geveden (GaGa) Yancey, 83, of Hopkinsville, KY

obitflowerHOPKINSVILLE, Ky. - Mona Geveden (GaGa) Yancey, 83, of Hopkinsville, KY, passed away June 10, 2013, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center of natural causes.

A native of Bardwell, KY, she was born November 26, 1929, the daughter of the late Robert L. and Mary Louis Campbell Geveden. She was a member of First United Methodist Church where she taught the 2 year old Sunday School Class. She was a retired teacher. She taught at Lacy Elementary and Morningside Elementary. She was a founding member of the First Baptist Church Kindergarten program. She was a member of the Hopkinsville Golf and Country Club, LaPetite Fluer Garden Club, Junior Auxiliary, and the Silver Sneakers Club at the YMCA.

Survivors include her daughter, Joanne Francis, her husband Jeff, 2 grandchildren: John Morgan Francis and Mary Catherine Francis, all of Hopkinsville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Yancey in 1986.

Funeral services were held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 2013, at Hughart & Beard Funeral Home in Hopkinsville, officiated by Rev. Paige S. Williams. Burial followed in Riverside Cemetery in Hopkinsville. Visitation was from 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at Hughart & Beard Funeral Home in Hopkinsville. Hughart & Beard Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church Preschool Program, 1305 S. Main Street, Hopkinsville, KY, 42240.

Pallbearers: Irvin Cushenberry, Lindsay Freeman, Grey Campbell, Austin Mason, Browning Casey, Jim Drury.
