Rev. Robert Wesley Dixon, 78, of Hopkinsville, KY

HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. - Rev. Robert Wesley Dixon, 78, of Hopkinsville, KY passed away at 11:45 p.m. Thursday, October 10, 2013 at his residence following a long illness.

A native of Pulaski, TN he was born August 26, 1935 the son of the late William Robert Dixon and Anna May Dixon Burris. He was a graduate of Bethel College (now Bethel University) and Cumberland Presbyterian Seminary (now Memphis Theological Seminary). He was a retired pastor having served in Camden Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Camden, TN; Erin Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Erin, TN; and Flat Lick Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Hopkinsville, TN.

Survivors include his wife: Sonja Lee Winders Dixon; his son: Robert Neal Dixon (Janie) of Clarksville, TN; his daughter: Dinah Lee Dixon Taylor (Mike) of Clarksville, TN; his sister: Frances Dixon Gray of Greeneville, TN; and seven grandchildren.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 14, 2013 at Flat Lick Cumberland Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Norlan Scrudder, Rev. E. G. Sims, and Rev. Steve Guarneros officiating. Burial will follow in Flat Lick Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Hughart & Beard Funeral Home in Hopkinsville and Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the service hour at Flat Lick Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Hughart & Beard Funeral Home in Hopkinsville is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Pennyroyal Hospice 220 Burley Ave., Hopkinsville, KY 42240; Flat Lick Cumberland Presbyterian Church c/o Darlene Osteen 7765 Lafayette Rd., Hopkinsville, KY 42240; or Flat Lick Cemetery Fund #1 c/o Brenda Morgan 5795 Cadiz Road, Hopkinsville, KY 42240.
