John C. Murphy, 88, of Owensboro, Ky

obit7OWENSBORO, Ky. - John C. Murphy, 88, of Owensboro, Ky passed away Thursday, July 11, 2013, at Christian Health Care in Louisville, KY. He was born October 19, 1924 in Fordsville, Ky to the late Earl Sanders Murphy and Daisy Perry Murphy. He had been a service station owner and operator and a deacon of First Christian Church. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Marsh Murphy in 1993; his son, Sonny Murphy in 2002; and by his brother, Earl J. Murphy who passed away during World War II.

He is survived by his daughter, Pam Cooper of Louisville; four grandchildren, Tara Carillo, Christina Murphy, John D. Cooper and Shelley Cooper; three great grandchildren, Autumn, Halle and Sage Sonny Carillo; and two sisters, Wilma Crutcher of Bowling Green, KY and Wandalene Daggette of Belpre, OH.

Services are 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at the Chapel of James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro. Burial is in Rosehill Cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Monday and after 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial gifts in his honor may be made to Day Spring, 3430 Day Spring Court, Louisville, KY 40213.
