Charles M. 'Poppy ' Hamilton, 78

obit10OWENSBORO, Ky. - Charles M. 'Poppy ' Hamilton, 78, went to be with the Lord on August 29th, 2013. He was born to the late Francis  'Fritz ' and Harriett Hamilton in Owensboro on August 28th, 1935. Charles retired from Nabisco and started a second career at Hillcrest Golf Course. As an avid golfer, it was a perfect fit. Charles was a Thunderbird aficionado; always tinkering with his yellow ’61 T-Bird. He also loved UK basketball and a good NASCAR race. But above all he loved spending time with his grandkids.

Including his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings; Mary Scott, Louise Thompson, Beverly Chinn, Lewis Hamilton, Richard Hamilton, and Delbert Hamilton

Charles is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Hamilton; Children; Carolyn and (Bill) McDaniel, Cindy and (Robert) Roby, Kevin Hamilton (Glenna), Curtis and (Cindy) Hamilton, Cathy and (Richard) James, and Christy and (David) McCrady; Grandchildren; Chelsea Hamilton, Brad and (Anna) Roby, Nick Hamilton, Laura Beth Roby, Erica Hamilton, Taylor James, Adelyn James, Lauren James, William McCrady, and Georgia McCrady; brother; William and David (Patty) Hamilton.

 The funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 3rd at Blessed Mother Catholic Church. Fr. John Meredith will officiate. Burial will follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 2-8 PM (with prayers at 6 PM) and after 8:30 am on Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.

Expressions of sympathy may to the form of contributions to the St. Joseph Peace Mission.
