OWENSBORO, Ky. - Joseph Daniel 'Dan ' Yeiser, 81, of Owensboro, Ky passed away Sunday, September 1, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born December 15, 1931 in Utica, KY to the late Kirtley and Anna Yeiser. Dan was a member of Utica Baptist Church, retired from the United States Postal Service, and was a Veteran of the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He earned the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. He enjoyed race cars, gardening and most of all loved being with his family, especially the grandkids. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Gloria Jean Baker Leisure, two sisters, Etta Jane Sheetz and Anna Frances Birnie-Arflack.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Ada Yeiser; five children, Karen Baker Gaddis of Owensboro, Dee (Sabrina) Baker of Owensboro, Tim (Jennifer) Baker of Owensboro, Dan (CarolAnn) Yeiser of Utica, Angie (Jeff) Bratcher of Philpot; ten grandchildren, Robbie Leisure, Ryan Leisure, Kam (David) Summers, Kalin (Damon) Hagan, Nick (Erica) Selby, Garrett Baker, Kalib (Katie) Selby, Cameron Baker, Kirtley Yeiser, Leah Smith; six great grandchildren, Madison Leisure, Addy Grace Summers, River Daniel Selby, Karlee Sue Selby, Lexie Smith, Liam Creek, two brothers, Harold Dean Yeiser, Kirtley 'Bud ' Yeiser, Jr., and a sister, Ada Myrl Ecton and several nieces and nephews.
Services are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Chapel of James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation is from 3-8 Tuesday and after 9:00 Wednesday.
