Marion Mulligan Mattingly, 93, of Owensboro, Ky

OWENSBORO, Ky. - Marion Mulligan Mattingly, 93, of Owensboro, Ky passed away Monday, October 21, 2013 at the Carmel Home. She was born March 4, 1920 in St. Joseph, KY to the late Erle A. and Corrine Riney Mulligan. She was a teacher with the Catholic School System and a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. She is a former recipient of the Sophia Award and the Knights of Columbus Family of the Year Award.

Aside from her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Leo Mattingly (2000), two daughters, Alice Marie and Jane Marie Mattingly, brothers and sisters, Harold Mulligan, Suzetta Ebelhar, Geraldine Simmons, Mildred Timbrook, Billy Mulligan and Frances O’Bryan.

Surviving are three daughters, Mary Jo (Hugh) Johnson of Philpot, Jeannie (Tony) Clark of Owensboro, Ann Gottschlich of Dayton, OH; two sons, Jesse (Nora) Mattingly, Jr. of Owensboro, Mark (Donna) Mattingly of Hartford, fourteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren; three sisters, Ruth Ann Hardy, Mary Jane Alexander, Martha Kauffeld all of Owensboro; a brother, John M. Mulligan of Owensboro; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Carmel Home with Reverend Richard Cash officiating and entombment to follow in Resurrection Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Carmel Home.

Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Carmel Home, 2501 Old Hartford Road, Owensboro, KY 42303 or to Our Lady of Lourdes St. Vincent DePaul Society, 4029 Frederica Street, Owensboro, KY 42303. Envelopes will be available at the Carmel Home.
