William Joseph 'Billy Joe' Booker, 79, of Knottsville

OWENSBORO, Ky. - William Joseph 'Billy Joe' Booker, 79, of Knottsville, went to be with God and his loving wife Mary Jonell, on Sunday, October 27, 2013, at his home surrounded by all his children and Father John Okora at his side. He was born on May 1, 1934 in Daviess Co., KY to the late Stoy and Minnie Goetz Booker. He was the last of 13 children in his family. Billy Joe was a member of St. Williams Catholic Church and retired from Fields Packing Co. He also had laid flooring and tile for a number of years. He had a great sense of humor, was a dog lover, avid U. K. basketball fan, and enjoyed playing cards with his friends. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren whom he was known to them as 'Funny Papaw'.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jonell Booker on June 6, 2003, and two great grandchildren, William Jett Booker and William Booker.

Surviving are two sons, William S. and wife Janetta Booker and Joey and wife Tina Booker, all of Whitesville, six daughters, Nancy and husband Steve Boarman of Owensboro, Darlene and husband Bill Stone of Owensboro, Robin and husband David Brown of Maceo, LaDonna Stevens and husband the late Dennie Stevens (passed away March 25, 2007), Susan and husband Phillip Payne of Knottsville, and Angie Lewis and fiancé Mike James of Scott Depot, W. Va., 25 grandchildren, and 44 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 30, at St. Williams Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Williams Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday with prayers at 7:30 P.M. and after 8:00 A.M. Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
