Donald R. Freels 72, of Calhoun, Ky

OWENSBORO, Ky. - Donald R. Freels 72, of Calhoun, Ky passed away Sunday, November 3, 2013 at his home in Calhoun. Donald Ray Freels was born February 13, 1941 in Daviess County, Ky to the late Woodrow Wilson and Mildred Juanita McCarty Freels, was married to the former Mary Jane Bassett on February 12, 1994, and was also known as 'Big D' by both his family and friends. Donnie retired as a boat captain from the Crounse Corporation after nearly 30 years of service and was a member of Local # 1392 in Owensboro. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends on the Green River, caring for his dogs, and loved all sports, especially University of Ky Basketball.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane Freels; two daughters, Darla Jackson of Cedar Hills, Tennessee and Karen Davis of Maine; two step sons, Chris Roby of Owensboro and Andy Roby of Rumsey; three grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Davis, Ashley Dawn Davis, and Blake Jackson; two brothers, O.J. Sallee of Rumsey and Red Sallee of Calhoun; and three sisters, Patty Mullens, Betty Chambers, and Peggy Tanner all of Calhoun.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel with the Elder Scott Sallee and the Rev. Harry Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the Calhoun Cemetery in McLean County. Friends may visit with Donnie's family from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday and from 9:00 A.M. until time of services Wednesday at Musters in Calhoun.

The Donald R. Freels family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Calhoun Cemetery, Beautification Fund; C/O Winfred Williams; P.O. Box 201; Calhoun, Ky 42327 Memorial contribution envelopes will be available at Musters in Calhoun.
