Mike 'Sod Buster' Holland 70, of Calhoun, Ky

OWENSBORO, Ky. - Mike 'Sod Buster' Holland 70, of Calhoun, Ky passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at his home in Calhoun. Michael John Holland was born July 5, 1943 in Daviess County, Ky to the late Michael John and Mary Agnes Yeckering Holland and was better known as 'Sod Buster' to both his family and friends. Mike was a retired driver with First Class Services of Lewisport and a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church. He was always willing to lend a hand to his friends and neighbors and was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, camping, and boating.

Survivors include his companion, Louise Waters; a son, Larry Holland of Calhoun; a daughter, Michelle Cooper of Louisville; two grandchildren, Katie Holland and Dakota Holland; a great granddaughter, Maci Craig; a sister, Mary Frances Jewell; and Louise's children, Steve Wilson and wife Susie, Mary Jane Cooper, Darrell Wilson, David Wilson and wife Cathy, Tammy Chaffin, Tina Jarvis, and Willie Wilson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Calhoun with the Rev. John Ighacho officiating. Burial will be in St. Peters Cemetery in Stanley. Friends may visit with Mike's family from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and from 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. Prayer services for Mike 'Sod Buster' Holland will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Musters in Calhoun.

Mike's family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the St. Sebastian Catholic Church; 180 Ky 136 West; Calhoun, Ky 42327. Memorial contribution envelopes will be available at Musters in Calhoun.
