Carroll E. Whitledge, age 74, of Henderson, KY

obit9HENDERSON, Ky. - Carroll E. Whitledge, age 74, of Henderson, KY formerly of Corydon, KY passed away at 11:45 AM, Friday, June 28, 2013, at his home.

Carroll grew up as a small child in Webster County. Later his family moved to Corydon, Ky and he attended school there before graduating from Henderson County High School. He served in the U.S. Army for 2 years. After returning home from the service, he attended Barber College. Carroll started several businesses including a barber shop in Corydon in the 60's, Whitledge Contractors in the 70's, Whitledge Brothers Auto Sales and South Y Auto Sales in the 80's. He was an entrepreneur and an avid bingo player. He loved to "wheel and deal." He attended Corydon General Baptist Church and loved going to 5th Monday Singing at Pritchett's Chapel in Hanson. Two of his favorite gospel groups were Lookin' Up and River City. His most precious times were spent with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer B. and Naomi Ruth Mulcahy Whitledge and his brother, Robert G. Whitledge.

Survivors include: Wife of 49 years: Linda Sue O'Leary Whitledge; 1 Daughter: Laura Sue Whitledge Biggers and her husband Troy; 3 Grandchildren: Joshua Tippett, Sierra Tippett, Jacob Ledbetter; 2 Great Grandchildren: Ian–Michael Tippett and Parker Lee Ledbetter All of Henderson, KY; Aunt Jeanette Brown and her family of Washington, IN.

Relatives and friends are invited to Carroll Whitledge's Life Celebration from 2:00-8:00 PM Monday, July 1, 2013 and again on Tuesday starting at 11:00 AM at Tapp Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home with Brother Rudy Moser officiating. Burial will follow in Corydon Cemetery, Corydon, KY.

Full Military Honors will be rendered by the American Legion Worsham Post #40.
