Louis (Tommy) Gibson, 80

obit-sunrisetreeHENDERSON, Ky. - Louis (Tommy) Gibson, 80, faithful son, husband, father, friend and employee passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2013. He was devoted to his mother, Lillian (Dossett) Stone, throughout her life, and his wife, Lera (Jones) Gibson, through a long marriage and difficult demise. He was a loving father to daughters, Lilly Beth Ramburger, Etta Dene Eaden and husband George, and Dianne Isom (deceased), and stepson Arthur Woods.... and son in law Fred Ramburger whose "Dixie" ring-tone was always a prelude to joy. Tommy was also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Tommy grew up in Henderson, but when a young man took a temporary job on farms near Zion.... and stayed on for some 50 years with three generations of the Priest Berland family, as well as his own. He was an honest man of good character, and loyal to a fault. He greatly enjoyed auctions, and collected Jim Beam bottles and interesting "things".... the "singing" fish being an exception.

In the 1960s and 70s Tommy was the sole auxiliary (and confidant) to the Mary Lynns, a group of a dozen prominent women who held a charitable Christmas bazaar each year. He could map the social landscape but did not gossip. He could find Fiji or Fuji on a map, or drive to St Thomas in Nashville or St Joseph at Maple Mount. He was upset when 88.3 ceased to feature classical music. He could "fix" anything, albeit often with spit, bailing wire and Gorilla Glue. He appreciated and attended many antiques over the years, and in his later years spent the winter months archiving 19C family records. Unintentionally, and unknowingly, he became something of a man for all seasons.

The ashes of Louis "Tommy" Gibson will be scattered on the places of his heart. Tomblinson Funeral Home Henderson Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Family and friends will be notified of arrangements.
