Betty (Thornberry) Ezell, 86 of Henderson, Ky

2cloudsHENDERSON, Ky. - Betty (Thornberry) Ezell, 86 of Henderson, Ky passed away Monday July 8, 2013 at 2:15 AM at Redbanks Nursing Home.

She was born in St. Petersburg, Florida on July 17, 1926 to Walker Lott and Velma (Fryer) Thornberry.

She was of the Methodist faith and was one of the original members of Chapel Hill Methodist Church in the 1960s. Betty was also an avid reader and UK basketball fan.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Smith H. Ezell and sister Katie Robards.

She is survived by 1 son: Don Ezell and wife Mary Lou of Henderson; 1 sister: Mary Ruth Richardson of Bowling Green, KY; 3 Grandchildren: Jeff Ezell and wife Sheryl of Henderson, Anthony Trent of South Bend, IN, Larry Trent and wife Kelley of South Bend, IN; 3 Great-grandchildren: Kendall Ezell of Henderson, Laura Crawley and husband Nick of Evansville, Kevin Jolly of Evansville; Several nieces and nephews.

Roommate and close friend who offered Betty comfort during her final days, Margie “Chubby” Varble

Services will be 2:00 PM Thursday July 11, 2013 at Tomblinson Funeral Home Henderson Chapel.

Rev. Wayne Burt will officiate.

Entombment will be in Fernwood Cemetery in Henderson.

Visitation will be Wednesday 4-8PM and Thursday noon until service time at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Anthony’s Hospice.

Pallbearers will be Jodie Thornberry, Tommy Thornberry, Jeff Ezell, Robert Earl Slaughter, Anthony Trent and Larry Trent.
