Jerry Dean Goldsberry, age 77, of Henderson, KY

2sunsetHENDERSON, Ky. - Jerry Dean Goldsberry, age 77, of Henderson, KY, formerly of Eddyville, KY passed away at 9:56 AM , Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at Redbanks Nursing Home.

Jerry was born in 1936 in Henderson, KY to Carl and Anna Pearl Goldsberry. In 1955 he married Beatrice Raber in Shawneetown, Il. They lived in Henderson and raised their two sons. He went to work for Maynard Glunt in 1976 at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home. With the encouragement of Mr. Glunt he attended and graduated from mortuary school in 1981. He was a licensed Ky. Funeral Director and worked as funeral director and manager of Benton-Glunt Funeral Home until he retired in 1997 to build a home on Lake Barkley. Jerry loved to fish and enjoyed time spent on his bass boat. He was an avid fisherman and loved Ky. Wildcat Basketball. He worked at Lakeland Funeral Home in Eddyville for the 14 years they lived there. Jerry and Bea made several close friends and joined Kuttawa First Baptist Church. He was a member of the Funtimers Bass Fishing Club, JOPPA Masonic Lodge #167 in Eddyville, KY. In 2011, he and his wife moved back to Henderson to live. He was a member of Zion Baptist Church and the Toastmasters. .

Mr. Goldsberry was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Peggy Liggett.

Survivors include: Wife of 57 years: Beatrice "Bea" Goldsberry Henderson, Ky; 2 Sons: Michael Goldsberry and wife Pamela Jefferson City, MO, Brad Goldsberry and wife Sherri Henderson, KY; 2 Grandchildren: Dustin Goldsberry and wife Christi, Megan Nantz and husband Alex; 1 Step Granddaughter: Jill Copeland; 1 Step Grandson: Robert Brightwell and wife Jessica; 1 Great Grandson: Jayce Goldsberry; 3 Step Great Grandchildren: Zoee, Keaton and Logen Brightwell; Nieces and Nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to Jerry Goldsberry Life Celebration from 12:00-7:00 PM on Friday, July 19, 2013 and again after 9:00 AM on Saturday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home.Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Saturday. Dan Garland PhD and Brother Carl Nelson will officiate. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson, KY.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to: St. Anthony's Hospice or Zion Baptist Church Building Fund.
