sky2HENDERSON, Ky. - Geraldine Irene Franklin O'Leary, age 86, of Henderson, KY, passed away at 4:55 AM, Sunday, August 11, 2013 at Methodist Hospital in Henderson, KY.

Geraldine was born on January 9, 1927 to Arthur and Irene Franklin in Parsons, Kansas. At age 16, she met her best friend James "J.B." O'Leary. They married in 1943 in Manhattan, Kansas. He was stationed at Fort Riley, where they made their home. After J.B. completed his military service, they moved to Ky and started their family. Geraldine and her husband worked at Top Cat Station for about 8 years until he retired. She worked for CBS Dress Factory and as a cashier at several grocery stores including, Main Street Market and Dick's Finer Foods. She loved camping, fishing, and crocheting. Geraldine enjoyed Big Band music and listening to Henry Lacky on WSON every morning. She loved sharing her talents with her grandchildren. She was the matriarch of the family. Everyone kept in touch with her and called her "Grand Central".

In addition to her parents, Geraldine was preceded in death by her sister Judy Scott, granddaughter Kelli O'Leary, and son in law Carroll Whitledge.

Survivors include: Husband of 70 years: James "J.B." O'Leary Henderson, Ky; 1 Daughter: Linda Whitledge Henderson, KY; 2 Sons: Jim O'Leary and wife Connie Henderson, KY, Bill O'Leary and wife Patricia Henderson, KY; 3 Sisters: Virginia Wisner Augustus, KS, Jo Good Dennis, KS, Sharon Kephart Thayer, KS; 3 Brothers: John Scott Ulysses, KS, Jim Scott Dennis, KS, Larry Scott Dennis, KS; 5 Grandchildren: Laura Sue, Shane, Jamia, Shanna, Jennifer; 13 Great Grandchildren; 2 Great Great Grandchildren; Nieces and Nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to Geraldine Irene Franklin O'Leary Life Celebration from 2:00 until 8:00 pm. Tuesday, August 13, 2013 and again on Wednesday starting at 10:00 am at Benton Glunt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 on Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Ken Gazaway officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson, KY.
