skyHENDERSON, Ky. - Thomas E. (Tommy) Bellew, age 81, of Henderson, KY, went to be with the Lord Saturday, August 17, 2013, at 4:45am at Lucy Smith King Care Center under the care of St. Anthony's Hospice.

Tommy was born at home in 1931 to parents Robert and Mary Bellew. He was a pool shark at an age so young, he had to stand on a box to play. He went to Audubon Grade School as a boy then Barret Manual Training Center as a teenager. He found his sweetheart, Juanita, and they married in 1951 at the tender ages of 19 and 16. He provided well for his family by working at Aeroquip (formerly Kusan) Plastics where he worked until retirement in 1993. He pitched on their men's softball team and was also an excellent bowler on a men's league. He has been a member of Immanuel Baptist Temple since 1963. Before he got sick, he was still active in the Gideon Men's Sunday School Class.

Tommy was sick for over three years and didn't complain. He was very easy to care for and was loved by his caregivers. He was loving, kind, compassionate and had a great sense of humor. He was a loving Christian boss, wonderful son, husband, daddy and even better Granddaddy. When he started having Grandchildren, he babysat them while their mother and father worked. He spent a lot of time going to their ball games. They were the light of his life.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Bellew is preceded in death by a brother, Roy Bellew and 5 sisters: Mabel Hulse, Dorothy McClure, Roberta Kinney, Helen Lee and Phyllis Rehn.

Survivors include: Loving wife of 62 years: Juanita Bellew Henderson, Ky; 2 Daughters: Pam Bellew, Denise Cannon and husband Bob; 3 Grandchildren: Reid, Clay and Hayden Cannon all of Henderson, Ky; 2 Sisters: Mary Foster Henderson, KY, Louise Sumner Elberfield, IN; 1 Brother: James Bellew Henderson, KY; Many Nieces and Nephews; Many friends and loved ones.

Relatives and friends are invited to Thomas E. Bellew's Life Celebration from 2:00 – 8:00 Tuesday, August 20, 2013 and again on Wednesday starting at 10:00 am at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday at the funeral home with Reverend Jim Trader officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson, KY.

The family would like to thank all of the care givers in ICU, Telemetry, Redbanks and Hospice. You treated him with loving care and we are so grateful.
