Carol Sue 'Susie' Wood, 72 of Robards, Ky

HENDERSON, Ky. - Carol Sue 'Susie' Wood, 72 of Robards, Ky passed away at 3:59 p.m. on February 14, 2013 at Methodist Hospital in Henderson. She was a Sunday school teacher and lifetime member of Shady Grove General Baptist Church. She dedicated 30 years of her life teaching at Robards and Sebree Elementary schools. She was also a babysitter and preschool teacher to her grandchildren. She loved to read and cook. She was an avid Ky Wildcat fan, St. Louis Cardinals fan, loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Susie was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lockey Ashby, and sisters Judy Reker and Laura Kathryn Forker.

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Wayne Wood, three children, Kathy Vaughn and husband David of Newburgh, Indiana, Amy Newman and husband Jeff of Poole, and David Wood and wife Shanna of Sebree, eight grandchildren, Austin Vaughn, Ashley Newman, Amanda Newman, Kayleigh Wood, Cameron Vaughn, Kaci Wood, Kari Wood, and Allie Newman. One brother, Jim Ashby and wife Jeannie of Robards. Three aunts, Laura Samples and husband Oral of Poole, Betty Kathryn Zachary of Terre Haute, Indiana, ad Gene Jewell of St. Louis, Missouri. Two brother-in-laws, John Reker of Paducah, and Maurice Forker and wife Karen of Sebree. One sister-in-law, Mary Ann Hancock of Grandview, Indiana, and several cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who loved her.

Services will be held on Monday, February 17th , 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Tomblinson Funeral Home Sebree Chapel with Dr. Dean Esarey officiating. Burial will be at Shady Grove Cemetery in Poole. Visitation will be 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday February 16th, and from 9 a.m. until service time on Monday.

Pallbearers will be Steve Steiner, Jeff Newman, David Vaughn, Austin Vaughn, Cameron Vaughn, Daniel Steiner, and Will Steiner.

Expressions of sympathy can be made in the form of contributions to Shady Grove General Baptist Church in Poole.
