HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. - James Lewis Turley, 86, of Madisonville, KY, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2013 at the Western Ky Veterans Center in Hanson, KY.
He was born November 24, 1926 in Webster Co, KY to the late Monroe Turley and Crystal Sandefur Turley. He was also preceded in death by his son, Charles Evans Turley.
Mr. Turley was a mechanic at P&M Coal. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, American Legion, and was a US Navy veteran where he served in World War II. He was a member of Grapevine Baptist Church. He loved to play golf, garden, and watch birds.
He is survived by wife, Betty of Madisonville; one daughter, Debbie Turley Osborne of Owensboro, KY; two sons, Larry Buntin of Madisonville and Alan Buntin of Orlando, FL; one sister, Betty Jo Fredericks of Madisonville; one brother, David Turley of Slaughters, KY; five grandchildren, Jacob and Lance Osborne, Sonya Clayton, Dawn Moore, and Brian Buntin; and six great-grandchildren, Dakota Clayton, Kirsten and Jordan Moore. Katie Beth, Mary Caroline, and Luke Osborne.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, June 23, 2013 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Hendricks and Rev. Greg Gaddis officiating. Burial will follow in Grapevine Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be performed by the Hopkins County Honor Guard.
Visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM Saturday, June 22, 2013 and after noon until the service time on Sunday.
Pallbearers will be Van Killough, Casey Caskey, Scott Moore, Joey Oldham, and Ernie Boze.
