HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. - Helen Barnes Fletcher, 81, of Madisonville, Ky went home to be with her two daughters, Sharon Kay Fletcher and Karyn Fletcher Tapp, on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at her home in Madisonville, Ky.
She was born November 30, 1931 in Hopkins County to the late Eunie and Major Barnes. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Louis Distlekamp; and four brothers, Charles Lois Barnes, Calvin Barnes, W.D. Barnes, and James Barnes, who lost his life in WWII on the ship, Mount Hood.
Helen will be waiting for her husband, Leonard D. Fletcher, of 62 years, and son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Rita Fletcher of Eddyville, Ky; grandchildren; Kimberly (Darin) Collins, Christie (John) Payne, and Christopher Nance; great grandchildren, Ethan, Fletcher, Naomi and Breindel Collins, and Tristan, Trevor and Preston Payne; along with sisters, Sue Alexander of Madisonville, Elizabeth Woodruff of Madisonville; and brothers Carl (Dean) Barnes of Henderson, Ky and Major 'Buddy' Barnes of Madisonville.
Mrs. Fletcher attended Christian Assembly Church. She loved sewing, reading, and doing crossword puzzles. She also loved spending time with her grand and great grand children.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 26, 2013 at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Bro. Roy Ellis and Rev. Shannon Embry officiating. Burial will follow in Ilsley Cemetery in Ilsley, Ky.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2013 and after noon until the service time on Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made to Baptist Health Hospice. Envelopes will be made available at the funeral home.
