DUE TO HEAVY SNOWS IN WESTERN KENTUCKY...WIDESPREAD 6 TO 12 INCH SNOWFALL AMOUNTS HAVE HAULTED AREA TRAVEL. ISOLATED 15 INCH AMOUNTS HAVE BEEN REPORTED. HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. - James Dempsey Reece, age 92, of North Christian Co., Dawson Springs, KY, passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at his residence. Mr. Reece was born on July 5, 1921, in Christian County, KY, to the late Joseph Lucian Reece and Ruth Ann Riley Reece. He worked as a surveyor. Additionally, he worked construction, and during the 50s he was the manager of Pennyrile State Resort Park.

Mr. Reece is survived by his wife, Anna Akin Reece, North Christian County, Dawson Springs; one daughter-Peggy J. Lewis, North Christian County, Dawson Springs; one son- Jack C. Reece, North Christian County, Dawson Springs; one step son- Leon Akin, North Christian County, Dawson Springs; three sisters- Juanita Rutherford, Lafayette, KY; Geraldine Smiley and Wardella Rogers both of Princeton, KY; an adopted sister- Paulette Knaga of IL; two brothers- Joe Reece of FL, and Dickie Reece of Lafayette, KY; two grandchildren, two step grandchildren, and one great grandchildren.

Preceding Mr. Reece in death are his parents, and his first wife- Johnnye Lucille Parker Reece (departed 4-11-1992).

There will be a graveside service at the Macedonia Cemetery in the Pennyrile Forest, Christian County, on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 11 a.m. Brother Butch McKnight will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Randy Lewis, Sam Akin, Jeff Bryant, Tom Gee, Billy Carrington, and Mitchell Trotter.
