Glen Edward Menser, age 84, of Dawson Springs, KY

HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. - Glen Edward Menser, age 84, of Dawson Springs, KY, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2013 at Baptist Health in Madisonville, KY. Mr. Menser was born on February 25, 1929, in Hopkins County, KY, to the late Johnny Lee and Josephine Laffoon Menser. He was a graduate of Charleston High School and the Industrial School of Electricity. For 40 years he was a coal miner, retiring in 1995 as a section foreman at Costain Mines and also served his country in Korea from 1951 – 1952 in the United States Army. Mr. Menser attended Dawson Springs First Baptist Church and enjoyed Nascar racing and attended the Indianapolis 500 for 50 years. He was an avid runner beginning competing in races when he was 50 years old. Mr. Menser loved spending time at Lake Beshear and last skied when he was age 80.

Mr. Menser is survived by his wife of 58 years ~ Shirley Menser of Dawson Springs, KY; three sons ~ Brent Edward Menser and Dale Ray Menser of Dawson Springs, KY; and Blakely Glen “Bo” Menser of Madisonville, KY; a daughter-in-law ~ Robin Menser (former wife of the late David Menser) of Henderson, KY; five sisters ~ Edna Sisk, Helen Tapp, Ruth Keller, Willa Dean Furgerson all of Dawson Springs, KY and Christine (Allen) Shelton of Clay, KY; six grandchildren ~ Magen Menser, Katie Menser, Lauren Menser, Morgan (Keri) Menser, Bradley (Stashia) Menser and Lucas Dale Menser; a great-grandchild ~ Adalyn Menser and a sister-in-law ~ Juanita Menser (former wife of the late Johnny Menser) of Madisonville, KY.

Preceding Mr. Menser in death are his parents, brothers ~ Eldred “Monk” (Evelyn) Menser, Marvin (Helen) Menser, and Johnny Menser; sister ~ Naomi (Paul) White; a son ~ David Jon Menser; brothers-in-law ~ Garnett Sisk, Bayne Keller and Joe Furgerson.

Visitation for Mr. Glen Menser will be Tuesday, November 5, 2013 from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. and Wednesday, November 6, 2013 from 9:00 A.M. – 2:00 P.M. at Beshear Funeral Home in Dawson Springs, KY. Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at Beshear Funeral Home with Rev. Randall Rogers and Rev. Jackie Perkins officiating. Burial will follow in Rosedale Cemetery in Dawson Springs, KY.
